The city of Lowell, Mass., is currently in design phase of a $17-million, 900-space mixed-use public parking facility with more than18,000 square feet of retail space. The garage is located in an urban renewal district bordering the historic downtown and National Historical Park area. The site is composed of historically industrial parcels, including a former service station.

The project is scheduled to be complete in Spring 2007. Lowell is an EPA brownfields showcase community and is nationally known for ambitious brownfield projects, including the Paul Tsongas Arena and LeLacheur Park, both home to professional sports teams. BFN
