Millennium Project Renews Conshohocken

In today’s market, a 60-acre live, work and play community rising along prime waterfront property isn’t so unusual. But when a project transforms an abandoned, contaminated eyesore; revitalizes a suburban community that was once a factory town; sparks momentous federal legislation; and garners a presidential visit, something far beyond the ordinary is afoot.

The extraordinary project is Millennium, in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Developed by O’Neill Properties Group, Millennium is a prime example of how community support, big ideas, and the right mix of resources can transform a repugnant brownfield into a gold mine.

As every developer knows, creating a mixed-use community on a brownfield takes a substantial commitment in planning, manpower, time and money to properly repurpose the property in ways that benefit the surrounding region.

That’s why President Bush chose Millennium and the Conshohocken community as the backdrop for his signing of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfield Revitalization Act in January 2002.
